GOLD

Karat spelled with K is the expression for the purity of the gold. 14 karat or 585, as it is stamped in the jewellery, is the most commonly used gold alloy in Denmark. When talking about karat, it is divided into 24 parts, which means that 14 karats are 14 parts fine gold and 10 parts other alloy materials. The designation 585 is a European designation (585/1000 fine gold) for 14 karats, which is in practice the same.
